Berlin in the 1980s: A group of American immigrants find work at the Hamburger Königin, a diner run by faded drag and trans icon Angie Stardust. In the heart of the city, they discover a haven for artistic, sexual, and gender expression. But amid disillusionment, bigotry, and personal drama, their search for freedom becomes an uphill battle.

Directed by Rosa von Praunheim, a key figure in German queer activism, who sadly passed away in 2025, Stadt der verlorenen Seelen blends musical comedy with documentary to capture the spirit of the period’s queer punk scene. Featuring icons such as Jayne County and Joaquín La Habana, the film is an irreverent, camp, and joyful journey through time and a precious artefact of LGBTQ+ cinema.
